Be Careful ... GUI can be critical !!

While I was reading the software engineering book that I have bought from
the book fair , I noticed this story on the user interface chapter, so I liked to share it with you to show how much critical the GUI can be , and here it is ...

On 8 January 1989 , British Midlands Flight 92 had just taken off from Heathrow , heading towards Belfast. Unfortunatly the left engine started smoke and lost power. A Boeing 737 is capable of flying with just one engine. However, the cockpit indicators did not give a strong enough indication about which engine was in trouble; they had no way of visually checking the engines from the cockpit, and the cabin crew did not inform them that smoke and flames had been seen from the left engine. The pilots mistakenly thought the right engine had the problem and shut is down instead !!

Flying with one engine shut down and the other in trouble, the palne crashed while attempting to make an emergency landing. Of 126 people on board, 47 died. Many peeople belive that an improved cockpit user interface could have avoided this disaster.

Today , I found myself very tired, the question that is always goes straight to my head when I am idle like now is which book should I read ??The blue one , the green one , the red one or the yellow one ? This is about design patterns , That's about servlets and jsp , another one for ejbs. Once this loop starts it does not go to an end !!!My brain just starts to explode (((((( zzzzzzzzzz )))))))

I think this is the benefit to have goal,plan and strategy.That's what I have learned from listening and reading to self improvement books.Once you have a goal of what you want , you will have to put a plan and choose the right book that will help you reach your goal.

I think I have read alot of books during the last year "2008" , books about management , self improvement , political, religiuos, scientific and in technology of course.Books for authors like Mostafa Ma7moud , Ibrahim El Fiky and others.I also read articles from different sites including mindtools.com and entrepreneur.com that were very useful to me and my career.

Not the written content alone which adds alot to my confusion and increase my headache,but also the audio and visual content made me more confused.But Ibrahim El Fiky TV shows,JavaOne sessions and religious lessons by Mohammed 7assan are my favourites videos.

I don't consider myself a knowledgable person,I just sometimes feel a pleasure when I read a new thing that teaches me how to behave or give me a new way of thinking.I think I should stop reading for a while and take rest and do some sport to release the energy in my brain and body,I should interact more with people around me, my family , my friends and with my colleagues at work,I need to build a network of new friends.The life is not only reading.

Ahh .. I forgot also to mention that I should close this curse noteBOOK, and relax.
